YELKA

YELKA – above all – is dedication with a concept. The trio, consisting of multi-instrumentalist Daniel Meteo, drummer Christian Obermaier, and bassist/singer Yelka Wehmeier, set themselves the goal of releasing ten albums in three years. By April 2025, they had already reached album number five with »In a rose hat« – clearly, YELKA mean business. And as long as the result sounds this dreamy, minimalist, and playful, who minds the grind behind it? YELKA’s music is atmospherically dense and strangely soothing – even though there’s always a trace of darkness drifting through. The songs are born in classic jam-session style: together in the rehearsal room, like a jazz ensemble. The result: meditative post-post-rock with glitches, curious sonic ideas, and Yelka Wehmeier’s somnambulant vocals. Music like fog – the kind you want to get lost in.
