»Under Pressure« – Subkultur im Spannungsfeld rechts-autoritärer Bestrebungen (DE)

In light of the social and political developments of recent years – reflected in the rise of right-wing and populist movements, most visibly in election results – a pressing question emerges: what socio-cultural approaches can be used to counter the hate embedded within them?
How can initiatives, projects and institutions outside metropolitan areas be strengthened in this culture war from the right, especially when cultural policy bodies at local and state level suddenly find themselves under right-wing authoritarian control?
At the same time, a new generation of far-right youth groups seems to be thriving, targeting or threatening projects that do not fit their worldview. The panel will explore whether this represents a backlash or a continuation of the so-called »baseball bat years« – and ask whether the idea of self-managed culture has the potential to foster social cohesion as a form of societal resilience in the face of these developments.
