Staying creative, even when it’s hard. How can creativity be practiced daily – beyond performance pressure, self-promotion, and creative block? At this year’s Pop-Kultur Festival, journalist Sara Geisler and rapper Ebow discuss »The Artist’s Way« by Julia Cameron – a classic guide to creative self-care, known for rituals like the »Morning Pages« and the »Artist Date«.
Their conversation brings Cameron’s ideas into dialogue with Ebow’s artistic practice – shaped by music, resistance, and visibility – and with Geisler’s perspective as a culture journalist who pays close attention to zeitgeist, creative routines, and female self-confidence. Together, they invite the audience to reflect on art, everyday life, and the courage it takes to see yourself as an artist.

Ebow, a rapper with Kurdish-Alevi roots, blends beats and political intent into a sound of her own – somewhere between trap, pop, and protest. On her solo albums and as part of the band Gaddafi Gals, she raps against racism and sexism and for empowerment – raw, sensual, and uncompromising. A voice of the now: loud and necessary.

Sara Geisler, born in 1990 in Tyrol, has been an editor and style columnist at ZEITmagazin since last year. Previously, she spent nine years at the DUMMY publishing house in Berlin, most recently as editor-in-chief of fluter.de, the online youth magazine of Germany’s Federal Agency for Civic Education. In 2024, she was awarded the Axel Springer Prize for her essay »War früher alles besser?« (»Was Everything Better in the Past?«), published in the Austrian newspaper Der Standard. She studied Sinology, Journalism, and Public Relations – and, though only briefly, Chinese calligraphy.
