Teresa Rotschopf: »The Cave as an Instrument«

Austrian musician, singer, and composer Teresa Rotschopf is drawn to the edges of the familiar. In her genre-crossing projects, she blends intuition with experimentation, structure with atmosphere – always in search of new sonic forms of expression. For her Commissioned Work at Pop-Kultur, she presents the album »Currents & Orders«, co-produced by Patrick Pulsinger and created inside a dripstone cave deep in the Austrian forest. This raw, unpredictable acoustic space becomes the resonating body for Rotschopf’s musical vision. The former Bunny Lake singer translates isolation into a deep connection with the natural sonic world. Her music is not just meant to be heard – it’s meant to be experienced. Together with her fellow musicians, she creates an immersive soundscape using a range of extraordinary instruments – including marimba, contraforte, vibraphone and more – where chaos and order, loudness and quiet, intimacy and intensity coexist. Everything is in motion. Flickering. Fragile.
