Disruption in the cultural sector doesn‘t always have to come from the outside – but that‘s precisely what has repeatedly happened in recent years. First with the emergence of streaming, and now through the use of artificial intelligence and the unauthorised scraping of copyrighted content to train large language models (LLMs). Time and again, the tech industry has undermined rights and incomes of many creatives – to the benefit of a privileged few.
For two decades, innovator Michael Pelczynski has been at the coalface of change – from royalty accounting and the design of fairer streaming payment systems to the ethical integration of AI. 
Only by truly understanding the complex realities and conflicting interests of disparate stakeholders can the wider music community develop effective, unified responses to external and internal threats.
