Migluma

The Baltic states have long been home to a vibrant scene of experimental electronic pop – with a particular spotlight on Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. This is where Migluma is based, having studied at the local Academy of Music and Theatre. With her EPs »Moth« and »Nebula«, she has become one of the leading voices in the raw, minimalist electro avant-garde emerging from the region. In her hometown, she’s known to perform in front of post-Soviet buildings or under railway bridges, but she is also appeared at Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavík. Her music builds hypnotic soundscapes from these artificial surroundings – always layered with something warm and deeply human. Sometimes you hear it clearly, sometimes it lingers just beneath the surface – Migluma’s subtle affinity for choral harmonies and Lithuanian folk traditions. It’s this interplay of elements that gives her music both its distinctive character and its constant tension.
