»Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs Live«: KOOB

KOOB is the debut project of singer and composer Valeria Dele, born in Minsk and now based in Berlin. After the protests against the regime, she left Belarus in 2020 and immersed herself in Berlin’s jazz scene, where she founded her own band in 2023 and released the album »That Tree«, earning multiple awards (Sparda Jazz, Jazzfrühling, Carinthischer Sommer).
Her sonorous spoken vocals shift between harmolodic wordplay à la Jayne Cortez, the funky attitude of Meshell Ndegeocello, and contemporary hip-hop. Dele constantly changes roles and genres – sometimes controlled, then wild, tender, demanding, unsettling – all in a heartbeat: jazz, avant-garde, soul.
