Dreamy indie pop that sometimes leans toward Neue Neue Deutsche Welle, sometimes drifts into indie rock – yet always sounds like blooming meadows at sunrise or a stylish hangover on the U-Bahn the morning after. The duo – made up of namesake Elfi Wildgrube and musical partner Fabian Merfort – wins us over with catchy arrangements, psych-pop production, and Elfi’s remarkable voice: fragile and powerful all at once. Out of nowhere, they delivered one of the songs of the summer with »Ich komm nicht mehr von dir los« – a bittersweet anthem about being stuck in your feelings. Wildgrube and Merfort pull off that rare balance of emotional depth and pop lightness. Their debut EP of the same name is set for release in late summer on Berlin label Staatsakt – and will be properly celebrated at Pop-Kultur.
