Die Heiterkeit

Stella Sommer belongs to Pop-Kultur the way Hermannplatz belongs to Neukölln. Whether performing solo, with Die Mausis, or with Die Heiterkeit – her appearances leave a lasting impression. Andreas Borcholte (Spiegel) put it perfectly in his review of the new album »Schwarze Magie«: »German pop doesn‘t have a more enchanting songwriter.«
With »Schwarze Magie« – once again created in collaboration with Berlin-based producer Moses Schneider – Die Heiterkeit takes on the zeitgeist theme of witches. But instead of merely flirting with buzzwords, she invites us to gaze deep into her crystal ball. Don’t worry, though: even when the air grows chilly and the thoughts turn dark, Stella Sommer never means harm. On the contrary – by sharing pain and reflection, she offers a rare feeling of belonging.
As the track »Teufelsberg« (named after the rubble hill in West Berlin that served as a Cold War listening post for the Americans) puts it: »Sometimes you only realise you were lonely once you’re not anymore.« In that spirit, we look forward to a moment of lived Pop-Kultur togetherness with Die Heiterkeit.
