delulu – szenische Lesung (DE)

In »delulu«, Julia Friese tells the story of Res, a woman who, in the moment of her death, relives her life in fragmented memories – a rollercoaster through the depths of pop culture. The novel made the Spiegel bestseller list and was described by the magazine as »a dream on the edge of hell«.

Julia Friese is a writer and cultural journalist. Her work has appeared in literary magazines and anthologies, and since 2021 she has published her acclaimed pop column »gedanken zum gegenwärtig*innen« in Musikexpress. Her much-discussed debut novel »MTTR« was published in 2022 by Wallstein Verlag and was nominated for the Clemens Brentano Prize in 2023. With »delulu«, she delivered a pop novel like no other: Die Zeit described it as a »wild, fragmented, associative trip« reminiscent of »William S. Burroughs or Thomas Pynchon«.

Mascha Jacobs is a publicist and freelance writer. She hosts the podcast »DEAR READER«, where she talks to authors about their favourite books. In addition to her work as an editor, she co-edits the magazine Pop. Kultur und Kritik, and regularly moderates events on pop culture, art, and literature.

This staged reading takes the form of a conversation between Mascha Jacobs and Julia Friese – with music playing a central role throughout.
