»Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs Live«: Aircraft

Founded in Kyiv in 2011, Aircraft started as a sparse constellation of drum machine, guitar, and voice. Lo-fi textures meet tender vocals, at times brushing against early Depeche Mode, warmed by brooding guitar lines and the grain of vintage drum machines and synths—ghosts of Cocteau Twins and A.R. Kane shimmering through. The mood drifts from the sly irony of John Maus to the gothic depths of This Mortal Coil, most fully on the album »Evidence«.
Viral on TikTok with »My Baby’s Got to Go« and »Aeria,« Aircraft’s reach extends from playlists to dancefloors, also operating as a DJ project across Europe. Now Berlin-based, the duo with Ukrainian guitarist Mykyta Mekalin keeps bending the light between pop reverie and shadow.
